This article presents a preliminary description of the three types of embedded interrogatives in the Shinokawa dialect of Amami, a Northern Ryukyuan language. They are distinguished each other in terms of the form of embedded predicates, the possibility of case marking, and the type of matrix predicates that can embed the interrogatives. It also describes the distribution of the focus particle in ro-Q. |
