Lead, copper and cadmium concentrations in the sea water from several stations of Tokyo Bay were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. The sea water samples were carefully collected and analyzed to avoid the contamination. The concentration ranges in the sea water were 25-230 ng/kg for lead, 190-1200 ng/kg for copper and 6-12 ng/kg for cadmium. The average concentrations are more than 10 times higher than those of open ocean. These elements seem to be distributed rather inhomogeneously and the differences of the concentrations among the stations look to be dependent to the sea condition. The concentrations of these elements, however, decrease gradually from the inner most part of the bay to the exit judging from the global aspect. The copper/lead ratios might indicate the mixing and the later change of the polluted sea water.
